Four New cubs Born in Kuno National Park

A female Cheetah renamed as 'Jwala' brought in from Namibia gave birth to four new cubs in Kuno National Park recently. This is the second good news coming out of Kuno National Park. A few weeks ago, another female ' Asha' had given birth to three cubs. This is the second litter of Jwala on Indian Soil; in March 2023 she had given birth to four more cubs. Unfortunately, 3 cubs died subsequently and only one cub survived.
With these new births by both female cheetahs, the total count of cubs born on Indian soil has touched 11.

In 2022, eight cheetahs from Namibia and subsequently 12 cheetahs from South Africa in February 2023 were introduced as a part of the Project Cheetah program.

Out of the 20 reintroduced Cheetah - 7 adult cheetahs have died so far including the recent death of an adult Cheetah.  Cheetah 'Shaurya' of Namibian lineage was found dead on January 16th 2024. This was the 10th death of a Cheetah on Indian soil, including the death of three cubs born in India. A few days ago, another Cheetah ' Shaurya' was found dead too.
